Black Star Morning is a heavy rock band that was conceived in 2001 by Ethan Kennett and Josh Riggs. Over the past five years the band has built a strong fan base by appearing at many prestigious Central Florida venues such as Hard Rock Live, House of Blues, The Social, and BackBooth.
The year 2005 ushered in many milestones for the band; it started with an invitation to play Orlando's own "Native Noise" Stage at WJRR 101One's annual Earth Day Birthday concert, where they played to a captivated audience of thousands of fist-pumping rock fans. Also appearing at the festival were Velvet Revolver, Breaking Benjamin, Dark New Day, and Alter Bridge. Two weeks later the band played the prestigious invitation-only Florida Music Festival, which showcases the best local and national un-signed acts. Next, the band took a road trip to Boston to perform at the NEMO Showcase where they played to a packed house full of friends, fans and industry reps. Sadly, at the end of 2005, the band saw the departure of co-founder Josh Riggs, as well as drummer Jeremy Olson and bassist Brent Mills due to creative differences in the musical direction of the band. The split was amicable, and Black Star Morning wishes Josh, Jeremy, and Brent all the best and much success in their future endeavors.
Black Star Morning has emerged in 2006 with a very cohesive lineup of Ethan Kennett on vocals/guitar, Juan Bautista on guitar/vocals, Nick Melashenko on bass, and Marcus Kryl on drums. The new members of Black Star Morning share a very promising and unified musical vision and have begun writing material for the bands second album, which they very much look forward to bringing to their loyal fans in the near future.
